Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois. His father was John Edward Reagan and his mother was Nelle Wilson Reagan. He was graduated from Eureka College in 1932. He served as our nation’s 40th President from January 20, 1981 to January 20, 1989.

     Ronald Reagan was an actor. In 1937, he was a radio sports announcer. That job took him to California, where he was “discovered” and offered a role in a movie. He went on to a long and successful career as a film & TV star and as President of the Screen Actors Guild. One of his most famous roles was as George Gipp in: “Knute Rockne – All American.” As Gipp lay dying, he implored Coach Knute Rockne to ask his Notre Dame football teammates to “… win just one for The Gipper.” After playing that role, Ronald Reagan would always be known as “The Gipper.” In 1980, Mr. Reagan (the former two-term Governor of California) ran for President against incumbent Jimmy Carter. The result was a landslide victory. Out of a possible 538 electoral votes, Mr. Reagan won 489. In 1981, a would-be assassin shot President Reagan. He recovered fully. In 1984, he ran against former Vice-President Mondale and won 525 of 538 electoral votes.

     President Ronald Wilson Reagan married actress Jane Wyman in 1940. They had two children: Maureen and Michael (adopted). They divorced in 1948. He then married actress Nancy Davis in 1952. They also had two children: Patricia and Ronald.  President Reagan passed away on June 5, 2004.
