George Walker Bush was born on July 6, 1946 in New Haven,
Connecticut. His father is George Herbert Walker Bush (41st
President of the United States) and his mother is Barbara
Pierce Bush. He is a graduate of both Yale University and
Harvard Business School. He was inaugurated as our 43rd
President on January 20, 2001 and is currently serving in
office.
“W” (Dubya) was a businessman. He has worked in the oil
business and as an executive of the Texas Rangers baseball
team. Mr. Bush also worked on his father’s 1988 campaign for
President. In 1995, he was elected Governor of Texas. Four
years later, for the first time in Texas history, Mr. Bush was
elected to a second consecutive four-year term of office.
During his second term, Governor Bush was nominated by the
Republican Party to run as their Presidential candidate in
2000. After a hotly contested election battle against Bill
Clinton’s Vice-President, Albert Gore, Jr., George W. Bush
was finally declared the winner.
On September 11, 2001 Islamic Terrorists attacked the United
States. Thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives.
President Bush, in an address to Congress, declared a
worldwide war against terrorism. He and his Vice-President,
Richard Cheney, continue to lead the United States toward
absolute victory.
President George W. Bush married schoolteacher Laura Welch in
1977. They have twin daughters: Barbara and Jenna. |
