The good people of Maryland
have determined that the lyrics
of
their official state song, |

"Maryland, My Maryland"
(1861), don't reflect their
current-day values of equality and
inclusiveness. |
|
Accordingly, legislation has
been proposed to replace the
offensive words of that song. |
|
I've submitted these
replacement lyrics for
consideration by Maryland's
legislators. |
|

(Note: I've retained the
traditional melody which was
written by Melchior Franck in
1615.) |
