Gay twinkling lights are blinking brightly all across the
town |
December chills the air as frosty snowflakes flitter down |
The malls abound with hurried shoppers giggling rounds of
glee |
They
scurry home with gifts to stow beneath a fake fir tree |
Once dearly we'd anticipate the year's most sacred day |
To celebrate the birth of Him who'd come to show the way |
We'd venerate the One who changed the course of all our
lives |
Of late our faith's been jaded into Currier and Ives |
Tell me whatever happened to Christmas? |
Is our heritage
sliding away? |
People timidly bid "Season's Greetings" |
For some
homogenized holiday |
Reckless lawyers rail "Christ is offensive!" |
Feckless
judges nail Him with their votes |
It's a crime just to wish "Merry Christmas!" |
Or to honor
the Man it denotes |
| Instrumental |
| |
Our Founders in their wisdom penned a brilliant Bill of
Rights |
They bequeathed us the freedoms they shed blood for in the
fight |
These faithful men were tried-and-true... they weighed each
word they said |
They never dreamed there'd dawn the day God
would be declared dead |

George Washington would be dismayed by how we misbehave |
No doubting Thomas Jefferson is turning in his grave |
To tear asunder their ideals
would be our worst mistake |
Our trust in God must never sleep... our faith remain awake |
As for me I'll still purely keep Christmas |
All its
symbols I'll surely display |
Baby Jesus will lie in His manger |
While Saint Nicholas flies in his sleigh |
I won't humbug my heart for the heathens |
They can't dampen my holiday cheer |
So I'm wishing you
all MERRY CHRISTMAS! |
And a
most blessèd Happy New Year |
