Many well-intentioned people opine that losing a pet is like losing a member
of the family. Dr. Damon Leigh, The Pet Pastor, respectfully
submits that losing a pet is not
like losing a member of the family...
losing a pet is losing a member of the
family.
Just as when the sad and solemn occasion unfortunately arises with
regard to the passing of a human family member, the need for comforting
the people most affected and afflicted is paramount. In the long
history of humankind on this planet, each and every society has created its own
traditional ceremonial manner of bidding farewell to departed
loved ones.
This serves several good and noble purposes. It allows those of us
left behind to express our affection and respect for the departed.
It also provides a salutary means of support in which family, friends
and clergy may join together to give thanks to the
Almighty for a dear one well loved and to celebrate a life well lived.
Moreover, such ceremony has the beneficial spiritual effect of
establishing both a point of closure and finality and a point of new
beginning. Sadly but truly, after all is said and done, life must
in fact go on.
In your own personal hour of need, please remember that you are not
alone. You have your Almighty and Eternal Heavenly Father and a
whole community of human family and friends who can and will be there to
provide you with comfort and support. By arranging a formal
Memorial Service for your dearly departed pet, you will be providing
yourself and others an opportunity to come together for the respectful
purpose of expressing your shared love of and bereavement for your
deceased animal companion.
The Pet Pastor will be honored and privileged to conduct your beloved
pet's final Memorial Service, wherein we, the assembled congregation,
may commend the beautiful soul of your pet to Our Heavenly Father and
beseech Him to lovingly look after the departed until the day of your
reunion in Paradise. Please contact Dr.
Leigh when and if this need arises in order to schedule a Memorial
Service
either in your home or at your pet's final resting place.
(PS - As a part
of the Pet Pastor Memorial Service, your dearly departed pet will be
permanently memorialized in the
Green Pastures
section of our website. There you may view his/her photograph and
read his/her cenotaph at any time and from anywhere.)
